DIRECTIONS
We the people of Daybreak Community Church have committed together to pursue a biblical way of life that is summed up in six shared values, which we call “Directions”. The Directions support our mission to join God in His loving pursuit of people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ as well as helping us understand what it means to be a part of Daybreak Community Church. We encourage you to explore all six of the Directions and hope that this will lead you to join and participate in the mission of Daybreak Community Church. All of the teachings for these six directions are available under our Podast Link.
LIVING HISTORY
In order to move forward we have to go backward. We believe in the central orthodox truths of the Christian faith and we believe that these truths are timeless and unchanging. We believe the bible to be the voices of many who have gone before us, inspired by God, who are passing on their poems, accounts, conversations, and letters of their relationship with each other and the living God. In order to understand how to most effectively reach people today with the Gospel, we must understand our history as the people of God so we know how to move forward in a way that brings glory to God. To know where we’re going, we have to know where we’ve been.
LIVING FORWARD
We believe it’s our turn to step into history and participate in the love story between God and man. As we move forward in the journey, we move in faith. We believe the church must ask the question “how do we meet this generation of people with the love of God in the most effective way?” We are constantly exploring and wrestling with new and creative ways to live out and communicate the teachings of Jesus. Because we see faith as a journey, change is assumed and innovation and creativity is expected. We are Living Forward.
LIVING MERCY
We believe that the communities in which we live should be better places to live because the church is there. Through acts of service, sacrifice, love, and compassion, we care about the things God cares about. We are joining with the God of the spiritually and financially poor to reach out with the transforming message of the resurrected Jesus. We believe we are called to take up our place in history by being in relationships with people in our communities and in our world who are in need of God’s mercy. We are people living out mercy.
LIVING COMMUNITY
Jesus did not live alone. Neither should we. We believe that we were created to live deeply with one another, sharing each other's burdens, sharing our possessions, praying for and confessing our sins to one another, and suffering and celebrating together. As we throw ourselves into these honest and loving relationships, God transforms us and we become the people God meant for us to be. We prove to the world that God loves each and every human being created in His image when we truly love one another. We are not created to live alone. We live in community.
LIVING SERVANTS
We were created to live for something larger than ourselves. We are not our own. We were bought with a price. Jesus is our living example of selfless living. We let our lives tell the good news of life with God, through doing the good works of God, so the world will glorify God. The church exists to meet the needs of a spiritually lost and dying world and we take great joy in partnering with God to change the world with whatever we possess. All we are and all we have are fully surrendered to God. We surrender our time, talent, and treasure for the sake of the mission in exchange for eternal treasure stored up in heaven. We are Living Servants.
LIVING CELEBRATION
Every day is a celebration for the people of God. We have experienced that forgiveness is real and hope for tomorrow is expected. We joyfully worship God because of this every day. We gather together regularly in small groups and large groups to study God’s Word in order to learn more about God’s plan for the world and for our lives and how we can more fully participate in that plan. God invites everyone everywhere into this way of life and we believe it is the best possible way to live. This is why we celebrate.
